Double Reed Workshop

The Stetson University Double Reed
Workshop is an intense week-long event
focusing on the fundamental principles of
double reed performance, including an
emphasis on specialized classes in reed-
making techniques. The workshop
encompasses chamber music for double reed
ensembles, master classes, and performance
classes. All participants play in the double reed
band and chamber ensembles, and are eligible
to audition to perform a solo on the Student
Recital presented on Friday evening. The final
concert includes performances by the double
reed bands, selected chamber ensembles, and
selected soloists.
For application to the workshop, please submit
a completed application form with a letter of
recommendation from your private teacher or
school music director. A $100 non-refundable
deposit made payable to Stetson University
Double Reed Workshop is required with the
application and the balance of the tuition is due
at registration. Tuition for the workshop is
$425, including room and board. Students
living in the area may commute and pay a
reduced fee of $325 which includes tuition,
lunches and dinners.
*Reed making kits must be purchased separately.
